Joe Mettle won the top prize of Artiste of the Year, an award which has eluded gospel artistes in the country since the awards began in 2000.
Receiving his award, the Owanwani singer, who also clinched Best Male Vocalist and Gospel Artiste of the Year on the night, said: “As you all know this is for gospel, this is for Christianity. And for every gospel musician in this house, the door is open.” He thanked God, Charterhouse and all who voted to make his win possible
Joe Mettle beat E.L, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, MzVee, and Medikal to win the ultimate award.
The Artiste of the Year Award is given to the artiste(s) adjudged by the Academy, Board and the general public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity in a particular year.
