Thirty-nine-year-old undefeated boxer Braimah Kamoko, aka Bukom Banku,
has appealed to former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana
Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, to stay committed to the National Democratic
Congress (NDC).
He said their current position, status and influence in the ruling NDC
were unquestionable, the more reason why they should stay committed to
the party.
According to him, the Rawlingses must speak their mind clearly on their
commitment to the NDC or as to “whether those who formed the party are
no longer interested in the party”.
This, Bukom Banku indicated, would enable him (Banku) to advise himself on whether to leave or stay in the NDC.
According to him, as an avowed member of the party, he was worried about
the seeming support the Rawlingses gave to the flag bearer of the New
Patriotic Party (NPP) in their recent comments, actions and inaction.
“How can you take us to the riverside, deep inside the river and jump
out and leave us alone inside,” Banku wondered, referring to what “looks
like a departure of the Rawlingses from the NDC”.
The theatrical pugilist, who referred to President Rawlings and his wife
as his grandfather and grandmother, appealed to them to re-commit to
the NDC for victory in 2016.
The Bukom-born fighter told the Daily Graphic in an interview last
Friday that he believed President Mahama would win the upcoming election
convincingly, and therefore called for unity to ensure a decisive
victory.
Banku on NDC MPs
The boxer also warned aspiring Members of Parliament (MPs) of the NDC to win their seats or risk his life.
He challenged them to work extra hard to ensure victory in the coming polls.
